Frequently Asked Questions
Can I adjust the length of my Gel Tubes?
Gel Tubes can be cut with a scissors to shorten them and they can be stretched when worn for a bit of extra length.
Are there any precautions I should know about Gel Tubes?
Gel tubes do provide compression and we advise checking with your health care provider if you have conditions such as Diabetes, Scleroderma, Raynaud’s Syndrome or other conditions that affect circulation. Gel Tubes are not breathable and may cause moisture to accumulate. If this occurs, remove tubes and clean and dry the skin before reapplying.
How long should I wear the Gel Tubes?
The time period depends on your condition and your comfort level. In general, Gel Tubes can be worn all day or all night according to need and condition. Please monitor your skin color and circulation throughout the time wearing them and remove the tubes as needed if you experience reduced circulation or skin intolerance.
How long will a Gel Tube last?
While it depends on what you are doing when wearing a Gel Tube, they can be expected to last several weeks with daily use and cleansing. Keeping your Gel Tube clean will extend the life of the product. Replace your Gel Tube when you notice small cracks in the surface.
If I wear a Gel Tube under an Oval-8 Finger Splint, will I need a different size splint?
If you will be wearing a Gel Tube under an Oval-8 or any other finger splint, we recommend you go up 1 to 2 sizes in the splint. We suggest when ordering Gel Tubes and Oval-8 finger splints together, you purchase a Graduated Set with sizes that are larger than what your finger measures without the tube.
