Kinesio is a collective of three dedicated organizations committed to the advancement of the Kinesio Taping® Method: Kinesio University, Kinesio Taping Association International (KTAI), and Kinesio Holding Corporation (KHC). United in the vision to ‘Tape the World for Health,’ this collaboration ensures comprehensive representation for the Method across the therapeutic landscape.

Originating in the late 1970s, the Kinesio Taping Method, pioneered by Dr. Kenzo Kase, revolutionized pain alleviation and lymphatic drainage. Driven by a passion for sharing the benefits of this innovative method, Dr. Kase recognized the importance of building a community of practitioners and instructors to establish standards for its use.

The Kinesio Taping Method is a therapeutic technique characterized by microscopically lifting the skin, facilitating lymphatic drainage and reducing inflammation. This method involves the specific application of Kinesio Tape, the original elastic adhesive tape developed by Dr. Kase in 1979. Known as Tex Tape, it is latex-free, hypoallergenic, and suitable for diverse populations, from elite athletes to geriatric and pediatric patients. With the ability to stretch longitudinally up to 40 to 60% of its resting length, the Tape is designed for extended wear.

Rejecting a one-size-fits-all philosophy, the Taping Method is individualized, guiding the body toward homeostasis through careful evaluation and assessment.

Dr. Kenzo Kase, the President and Founder of Kinesio, brings a unique perspective to the field. Born in Japan in the early 1940s, his personal health challenges led him to embrace a holistic approach to healing. His combination of chiropractic and acupuncture education, coupled with a deep understanding of mainstream and traditional medical techniques, has shaped the foundation of Kinesio’s philosophy and methodology. Dr. Kase’s commitment to integrative healing continues to drive Kinesio’s mission to ‘Tape the World for Health.’
