Mallet Stax Finger Splint Sizing Chart

Important Note...When measuring your finger, measure very loosely.   If your measuring tape is too tight around your finger, the splint may not fit.  Measure around the distal interphalangeal joint (the 1st joint on your finger closet to the tip of your finger).  We always recommend going one size larger unless you have used these before and know your size.

Description

The Stax Mallet Finger Splint is ideally suited for the repair of a ruptured tendon. They are designed to support the distal joint of the finger in extension while permitting unrestricted movement of the proximal interphalangeal joint.
The Splint is normally used without padding and is fixed to the middle phalanx with a small strip of adhesive tape, thus automatically elevating the distal joint to its proper extended position.

Occasionally, the dorsum (back) of the finger may be too tender to tolerate a normal size Stack Splint.  A much larger size, padded on the inside, should be used until the swelling has subsided enough to replace it with a Splint of the proper size.  Because they are made of lightweight, flesh-coloured plastic, patients will find Stack Finger Splints comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

Features and Benefits of the Stax mallet finger splint

  • Permits unrestricted movement of the proximal interphalangeal joint.
  • Open tip permits examination of fingernail and skin colour.
  • Vented polypropylene splint flesh-colour.
  • Not made with natural rubber latex.

  1. Wayne Dodd

Perfect. Much better than my home made splint

  2. Stefan Kovacevic

Mangled up my finger during COVID. I use the Oval 8 during the day as it gives me a little more latitude and movement. I have been swapping it at night with the Stax finger splint. Glad I found these items.

  3. Bonnie Schatia

This is way too big, so I likely didn’t measure properly and also thought I had a fractured finger, but now arthritis has set in.

  4. Doris Hindrichs

This is a very practical and easy to use splint for a mallet injury. It allows almost full normal use of the hand during the healing process. I found it more comfortable though, after enlarging the air holes with a drill press, as it tends to get somewhat damp inside with activity. I’m happy that I bought 2 sizes, one to fit on the swollen finger for the first week or so, and a size smaller for the remaining 5 weeks.

  5. Nancy Morton

I measured per the instructions and they were still too small and I can’t use them

  6. Peter Chackeris

    Worked great…fracture is healed.
