Powerbreathe KH2 Features
Breathe-Link® Medic Software
Live feedback software that captures, organises and stores data and analysis of a patient’s respiratory muscles’ performance.
- Breathe-Link® Connectivity: Via USB.
- Breathe-Link® Compatibility.
- Breathe-Link® Pro View: Provides detailed, simultaneous plotting and analysis of all inspiratory muscle training data for each patient.
- Breathe-Link® Custom: Allows you to create and upload customised training sessions for each patient.
- Breathe-Link® Patient Data: Lists all registered patients, allowing you to easily access patient training data history.
KH2 Hand Held Device
- Manual training intensity option: 5-200 cm H2O.
- Auto-optimizing IMT: Matches the strength profile of the inspiratory muscles.
- Breathing Pacing Guidance: An audible beep guides breathing at an appropriate rate.
- Single breath test MIP: Rates inspiratory muscle strength in comparison with predicted value.
- Strength Index (S-Index®): Calculates inspiratory muscle strength (cmH2O) based upon PIF.
- Test Results: PIF/Flow Test and MIP.
- MIP Test: Use initially for establishing a patient’s baseline measurement and again later to quantify improvement following IMT.
- Training Results: Load, Power, Inhaled Volume and Breathing Energy (joules).
- Endurance Protocol: Patient performs a 150-breath training session to completely fatigue the breathing muscles.
Measurement Validity
The following study concludes that the K-Series device “provides automatically processed and valid estimates of physical units of energy during loaded breathing tasks…”
Measurement validity of an electronic inspiratory loading device during a loaded breathing task in patients with COPD
The following study suggests that S-Index® might be more appropriate for measuring inspiratory muscle performance than the currently most used test, PImax…
Assessment of Maximum Dynamic Inspiratory Pressure
The following study finds that “It is feasible and reliable to evaluate the maximum repetition of inspiratory muscles in healthy individuals…”
What’s In the Box
- POWERbreathe IMT Device & User Manual: The K-Series is manufactured in a hygienic environment but is not considered ‘sterile’. The mouthpiece must be cleaned prior to use. The box is sealed to maintain hygiene and cannot be returned if the tamper seal is broken. Please read the user manual carefully before using.
- USB Charger & Cable: The device comes with a charging plug and charging cable.
- Valve Head, Mouthpiece & Nose Clip: Mouthpiece: Material – TPE (Thermoplastic elastomers). The nose clip helps the user to breathe through the mouth rather than the nose, thus improving the training effects. However, it is not essential to use. The Spacer can be used in conjunction with a Respiratory Mask and Oxygen Mask Adapter for those patients on oxygen.
- Cradle, Storage Pouch & Cleansing Tablets*: The cradle may be used to house the device while charging. The pouch ensures everything stays stored away in a good, clean condition. Four cleansing tablets are included. Once a week the device should be soaked in this mild cleansing solution – only 1 tablet is required each time.
- Breathe-Link® Medic Software: Breathe-Link® Medic Software will need to be downloaded.
