Detailed Description of the POWERbreathe Smart Adaptor
POWERBreathe developed the rechargeable, electronic POWERbreathe Smart Adaptor to enable users of POWERbreathe Plus (IMT) devices, POWERbreathe EX1 (EMT) devices and, ultimately, POWERbreathe Shaker Deluxe devices, to visualize their breathing improvements in real-time. They listened to their customers who asked them to provide a means for quantifying their training on the mechanical series of POWERbreathe breathing trainers: POWERbreathe Plus IMT and POWERbreathe EX1 EMT.
So here it is. The rechargeable POWERbreathe Smart Adaptor, paired via Bluetooth® wireless technology with the companion ActiBreathe® App, provides informative breathing training feedback that helps you optimise your breathing training. Designed to improve your training technique and therefore results and benefits, this innovative duo combines advanced technology with personalized guidance for a more enlightening respiratory experience.
The Standalone POWERbreathe Smart Adaptor
Uniquely, the POWERbreathe Smart Adaptor is a standalone device. You can use it independently of your POWERbreathe breathing device to perform a breathing strength test by using the ‘Strength Test Plug’ provided within the Smart Adaptor’s main body.
Here’s how it works: Instead of attaching the Smart Adaptor to your POWERbreathe device, insert the ‘Strength Test Plug’ into the main body of the Smart Adaptor and perform your breathing strength test.
The innovative POWERbreathe Smart Adaptor offers:
- Flexibility: The Smart Adaptor’s standalone capability offers flexibility in usage. You can conduct a breathing strength test without the need to connect it to your POWERbreathe device, providing you with more opportunities for when and where to perform the strength test.
- Convenience: By not requiring attachment to your POWERbreathe device, you can quickly and easily perform the breathing strength test. Simply insert the ‘Strength Test Plug’ into the Smart Adaptor and you’re ready to test your breathing strength.
- Accessibility: As a standalone device, the Smart Adaptor makes a breathing strength test accessible to a wider range of users. If you don’t yet have a POWERbreathe device, you can still benefit from assessing your breathing strength by using it independently.
- Data Accessibility: Results from all your breathing strength tests, when connected via Bluetooth® wireless technology, are viewable on the accompanying ActiBreathe® App, providing you with immediate access to valuable data about your breathing capabilities. This accessibility to data can aid in setting your breathing training resistance and tracking your progress quickly and easily, helping you make informed decisions about your respiratory health.
How the Smart Adaptor Works
The rechargeable electronic POWERbreathe Smart Adaptor easily attaches to your POWERbreathe Plus (IMT) device, POWERbreathe EX1 (EMT) device and soon, to your POWERbreathe Shaker Deluxe Mucus Clearance device, to unlock your breathing feedback via Bluetooth® wireless technology and the ActiBreathe® App.
- Attach the Smart Adaptor: Easily attach the POWERbreathe Smart Adaptor to your POWERbreathe: Plus (IMT) or EX1 (EMT) device, and soon, your Shaker Deluxe device too.
- Sync the Smart Adaptor to the ActiBreathe® App via Bluetooth® wireless technology Download the App and then simply follow the instructions on the screen.

Inspiratory Muscle Trainers (IMT)
Inspiratory Muscle Breathing training focuses on strengthening your diaphragm rather than your lungs. This is because your lungs are a pair of spongy, air-filled organs, and not muscle, and therefore cannot be strengthened.
For people that are unfit or suffering from conditions such as COPD and asthma, breathing requires more effort and energy. Carrying out breathing training decreases this effort and reduces your demand for oxygen during exercise.
Expiratory Muscle Trainers (EMT)
Whereas POWERbreathe Inspiratory Muscle Training (IMT) trains your inspiratory muscles to become stronger, Expiratory muscle training (EMT) targets your expiratory muscles to become stronger.
EMT exercises your expiratory muscles, including your abdominals. Your expiratory muscles are the ones you use when you forcefully breathe out, such as coughing, during extreme exercise, singing or when playing a wind instrument. The stronger they are, the more endurance they will have.
