Disposable Premium Earloop Protective Medical Masks are designed for medical, dental and personal health, 3-ply FFP2, FDA, CE and Health Canada approved in a pack of 500.
Our health care professionals have searched and found some high quality masks to help stop the spread of the Coronavirus and other viruses. These masks have FDA, CE and health Canada approval.
These masks are rated as FFP2 (Filtering Face Piece # 2) which is a European standard.
There are 3 types of ratings used with the European standard – FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3. Below is a chart on the differences and comparisons of the different standards in North America and Europe and their filtering capacity.
Respirator Standard | Filter Capacity (removes x% of of all particles that are 0.3 microns in diameter or larger) |
FFP1 & P1 | At least 80% |
FFP2 & P2 | At least 94% |
N95 | At least 95% |
N99 & FFP3 | At least 99% |
P3 | At least 99.95% |
N100 | At least 99.97% |
As you can see, the closest European equivalent to N95 are FFP2 / P2 rated respirators.
How Do These Medical Masks Work?
According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) medical masks limit the spread of infectious particles such as COVID-19 expelled by the user. They are used to help protect the area around the user from contamination by particles expelled by the user, such as those generated by coughs or sneezes. Medical masks also help provide a physical barrier to protect the user from splashes, sprays, droplets in the air, or contact with contaminated hands.
CDC and Health Canada Recommends Wearing Face Masks!
The CDC and Health Canada has now recommended people should be wearing face masks in public. We now know from recent studies that a significant portion of individuals with coronavirus lack symptoms (“asymptomatic”) and that even those who eventually develop symptoms (“pre-symptomatic”) can transmit the virus to others before showing symptoms. This means that the virus can spread between people interacting in close proximity—for example, speaking, coughing, or sneezing—even if those people are not exhibiting symptoms. In light of this new evidence, it is recommended the individuals wear face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies) especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.
